Seniors on the Field Hockey team expressed their sincere gratitude and appreciation to the educators who have made an impact in their lives and awarded them with the Rocket Student-Athlete Impact Award. These educators have guided their academic paths and served as mentors and companions throughout their journey.
It’s incredibly touching to see our students acknowledge and celebrate the dedication, support, and inspiration that our teachers offer every day.
A big thank you to our Field Hockey team for their thoughtful gesture of appreciation! Teachers, your influence reaches far beyond the classroom, and we are sincerely grateful for all you do.

Kyleigh Hinson Honors Ms. Missy Grim, Math Teacher at Spring Grove Area High School
“I chose to honor Ms. Grim because she always encourages us to do our best in class and always cares about us as people and not just students. She’s made tough subjects easier to understand by making sure we comprehend the concept and not just what we need to write down. She’s willing to help any student outside of class time and give us all the resources she can to help us succeed. My favorite memory in her class is playing review games before the AP exam because everyone gets so competitive. Thank you, Ms. Grim, for your unwavering dedication to our students.”
Lexi Houghton Honors Mr. Joshua Newark, Social Studies Teacher at Spring Grove Area High School
“I chose Mr. Newark as my most impactful teacher because he always brightens up the classroom. School is usually pretty boring, but Mr. Newark always finds a way to make his class interesting. Mr. Newark is one of the funniest teachers I’ve ever had. He always has crazy stories to tell and sometimes I wonder if they are actually true or not. I don’t have one specific memory of Mr. Newark, but most of my great memories revolve around the silly stories he tells. I just wanted to give a big thanks to Mr. Newark for always being a teacher I can rely on and for making school more fun for me and so many other students. I’m very appreciative of Mr. Newark and so happy to have had him as a teacher.”

Ms. Mattis encouraged me to always try my best and go all out, whether on my assignments or anything out of class I am passionate about. Ms. Mattis always makes her class fun; she does games and activities to help keep her students engaged and learning in a fun way. She’s a very passionate person not only for teaching but for her students as well. My favorite memory is when she would always come to sit in our group while we worked. Another favorite memory is when she would take us out of her classroom to play different games. Ms. Mattis is an amazing role model to me and many other students, and I couldn’t ask for a better role model. I am so grateful for the awesome relationship we have and the impact she has made on my life."
Allison Little Honors Mr. Tyler Newcomb, Science Teacher at Spring Grove Area High School
“Mr. Newcomb was my honors biology teacher my freshman year. Though I haven’t had him as a teacher since, I haven’t failed to stop in his class and continue to keep up with our ongoing jokes. I chose Mr. Newcomb because he never fails to make me laugh. My favorite memory with Mr. Newcomb was when I fell asleep during notes, and the entire class stacked things up around me for when I woke up. This memory and many more are what make me appreciate all of the good times I had with Mr. Newcomb. Whether it was while he was my teacher or when I came in to distract his class, he never failed to cheer up my day. I’d like to thank Mr. Newcomb for always being there to give me a good laugh.”
Delaney Mostoller Honors Ms. Janelle Newark, ELA Teacher at Spring Grove Area High School

I know I can go to her for anything from school help to relationship drama, and she will always be there and know what to say. Her class will always be one of my favorites. There was never a dull moment. She is so dedicated to her students and making learning fun. I have so many amazing memories with her, from celebrating her birthday in the IAC to having rant sessions at her desk with Kyleigh, but my favorite one is forever making Ben stand on his chair in the middle of class to apologize to Gabe. Thank you, Ms. Newark, for everything you’ve given me.”
Sophia Nestler Honors Mr. Joshua Graham, Social Studies Teacher at Spring Grove Area High School
“Mr. Graham was my freshman-year history teacher. Throughout my freshman year, his class challenged me. Mr. Graham pushed me to be a better student and brought out a side of me that I never thought was in there. If not for his class, I would not be the student I am today. Mr. Graham always pushed me to be my best and work my hardest. Without his encouragement, I wouldn’t have developed the work ethic I have today. I would like to thank Mr. Graham for always pushing me to be my best. Also, congratulations on the baby.”

Manager Ky’Sier Ludvig Honors Ms. Julia Baer, World Language Teacher (Spanish) at Spring Grove Area High School
“I chose to honor Señora Baer. I wish I could fit all the things Señora does for me and even my friends in this paragraph, but I would be talking forever. She’s the most kind-hearted and caring person to have ever stepped foot in Spring Grove Area High School. She’s funny, and you can talk to her for hours. If anything happens in my life, she is the first person I always go to. She takes the time to help me and my friends with applying for colleges and scholarships. It means a lot to me to know that she is always there for me. Señora, I'm glad I got the chance to be your student and the opportunity you gave me to be the manager of your field hockey team. We have had so many fun times together and I know we will have more memories to come. Thank you, Señora Baer.”
