SAT - ACT - AP - PSAT Information
ACT
- The ACT is an achievement test based on information already learned by the student. The ACT tests math, critical reading, science, language arts, and writing (the writing test is optional, but recommended).
- When registering for the ACT, it is important to select up to 4 colleges to receive your scores directly. These are free when registering for the test; however, you will be charged an additional fee if you request that your test scores be sent to colleges after taking the test.
- Students receiving free and reduced lunch should see their counselor to receive a fee waiver form to register for the ACT.
AP Exams
The AP Program offers college-level courses and exams you can take in high school.
AP Test Registration
The first step in registering for an AP Exam is to join your AP class section via myap.collegeboard.org with the join code teachers have shared with you. Once your teacher shares the join code, you should join the appropriate class/classes as soon as possible.
Once you have joined the class, you must indicate on this site if you plan to take the exam. Below is an example of what you will see, you will need to click on the yellow “Register for Exam” box and then indicate your intentions. You will need to either indicate “Yes” if you plan to take the AP Exam or “No” if you do not want to take the AP Exam.
Undecided
Undecided is not an option after November 1. If you have indicated “Undecided” after November 1, it will be assumed that you do not intend to take that particular AP Exam, and the counselor will make the appropriate change to the order. If you indicate “No,” you do not need to do anything else.
Payment
If you DO want to take that AP Exam and you have indicated “Yes” on the myap.collegeboard.org website, you will need to pay for your exam in advance and submit your signed AP contract to the High School Counseling Office. This will ensure that a test will be ordered for you. If you qualify for the Free/Reduced Lunch Program, you should see your school counselor as you may qualify for a fee reduction. You will also need to indicate that you qualify for a fee reduction on the myap.collegeboard.org website after indicating “Yes.”
Multiple Exams
If you are taking multiple exams, you must follow this process and pay this amount for each AP Exam you plan to take. If you are concerned about taking two AP exams on the same day, please stop by the counseling office and we can review an alternate option. Students can start bringing in payments immediately.

What Is the PSAT Test? Everything You Need to Know.
- 10th graders can only take this test for practice by registering through the Google form. Your scores will not be attributed to the national merit scholarship program.
- 10th graders must pay a fee in order to take this exam.
Please meet with your counselor if you have any questions about this exam.
11th Graders
The PSAT allows students to prepare for the SAT (Scholastic Aptitude Test) by experiencing a smaller, shorter version of the test. It is a “warm-up” that will indicate how you may perform on the SAT. Please meet with your counselor if you have any questions about this exam.
The PSAT is also attached to the NMSQT (National Merit Scholarship Qualifying Test). High enough scores on this exam as a junior can help students earn a chance to enter the National Merit Scholarship Program to earn money for college.
