Dual Enrollment
What is Dual Enrollment?
Dual Enrollment allows eligible junior and senior students to earn college and high school credit at the same time.
Students who are accepted by one of our partner colleges or universities enroll in a college-level course. Upon successful completion, the student earns:
- College credit from the postsecondary institution
- High school credit toward graduation at Spring Grove Area School District
Example:
A student who successfully completes a freshman-level college English course earns 1.0 high school English credit.
Partner Colleges & Universities
Each college or university we partner with has its own admission and enrollment process. Requirements, deadlines, and course availability may vary.
Important reminders:
- Students and families should review each institution’s requirements carefully.
- We strongly recommend that students speak directly with colleges they may attend after high school to understand transfer policies for Dual Enrollment credits.
Please note: Students and families are responsible for all costs, including tuition, textbooks, and any required materials.
High School Credit & GPA Information
- All approved Dual Enrollment courses appear on the high school transcript.
- One college course is equivalent to one high school credit.
- Courses are included in the high school GPA when:
- They replace a required graduation course, or
- They represent the next level of progression in Math, English, Science, or Social Studies.
Weighting:
- Dual Enrollment courses carry a 1.15 weighted GPA, the same as AP courses.
- Physical Education courses are weighted the same as traditional high school PE courses.
