HACC College in the High School

Congratulations on taking the first steps in completing the HACC College in the High School (CHS) process. We are completing this process as you have requested a HACC College in the High School course during our course selection process. Spring Grove schedules will be released over the summer for all students.

Thank you for working through the application process with us. If you have not already done so, please complete your signature page and enter Mr. Fake’s name and email (fakec@sgasd.org) as your counselor to ensure notification to complete your application.

If you have already taken a HACC College in the High School class, HACC will reach out to confirm your eligibility for your courses for next year. You will not need to complete the first few steps but will be allowed to register through HACC when that time comes.
If next year is your first time taking a HACC College in the High School class, please review and follow all the steps in the process. Please read all emails from HACC and complete everything by the deadlines.

Steps in the HACC CHS Process

You are currently in steps 2-4. Please be aware of all the steps in the process, but know that they will not be able to be completed all at once as there will be some lag time between when you complete your application and when HACC issues acceptances into the program. Typically, the rest of the process occurs closer to the start of the new school year. You must complete all parts of this process to receive college credit.

Please check your email over the summer for any updates and information HACC may send. For this program, you only need to be concerned with updates related to the College in the High School (CHS) program.

Step 2 – Complete the HACC application. Apply for Admissions

Create an account and apply to HACC online as a Dual Enrollment student
- Select "Dual Enrollment" as the program of study
- Submit a copy of your high school transcript and signature page. Your application will not be considered completed until we receive these documents. Please watch this brief video about completing the signature page.
Wait for your acceptance email. After submitting the application and all required documents, you will receive an acceptance email within three to five business days.
Activate your HACC student account when your acceptance email is received
- Go to https://accounts.hacc.edu/studentclaim/login/auth
- You will need your HACC student ID, which is included in your acceptance email.

After you activate your HACC student account (myHACC), you will activate your student email (HAWKmail) and receive HACC credentials to access your myHACC student account.

Step Three

Step 3: Complete placement testing, if required

Placement testing, high school grades and/or SAT, ACT or PSAT scores help determine your eligibility to enroll in certain classes. Details about placement testing, including exemptions, are available on our website.

Links to complete placement testing will be sent to your HACC student email (HAWKmail). If you have not received the links to complete placement testing, please contact orientation@hacc.edu.

Step Four

Step 4: Review placement testing results and register for class

After reviewing your placement testing results in your HAWKmail, you can register for classes. Should you need assistance with registration, a success coach can review your course eligibility and help you register. To schedule an appointment with a success coach, please call 717-780-1972 or email successcoach@hacc.edu.

If you plan to take HACC’s College in the High School (CHS) courses that are taught at your high school, please contact your guidance counselor about registration. Please note, you must complete a dual enrollment application prior to registering for CHS courses.

You will register for classes each semester just like when you attend college. Be sure to only register for classes that you are enrolled with at Spring Grove during the correct semester.

Step Five

Step 5: Attend a virtual dual enrollment orientation

Our orientation team will contact you through your HACC student email (HAWKmail) to schedule a dual enrollment orientation. You are required to attend an orientation prior to the start of your dual enrollment courses. Please contact orientation@hacc.edu with any questions.

Students who are only taking CHS courses at their high school are not required to attend a dual enrollment orientation.

Step Six

Step 6: Pay YOUR bill

A tuition bill will automatically generate after you register for your course. Tuition bills are available electronically in the Registration/Records tab of your myHACC student account. They are not mailed to your home.

How To Make a Payment

The new cost per credit for HACC College in the High School courses is $83.50

Transcripts

Once you have completed College in the High School courses and need transcripts showing proof of earned credit through HACC, please follow these steps to request a transcript:

Online - You can request an official transcript through your MyHACC, under the Registration/Records tab, under Student Records, select Request a Transcript, and click the Request an Official Transcript link. You can also go directly to the National Student Clearinghouse.
Welcome Center - You can request your official transcript at any HACC - Welcome Center.
Our Welcome Center Staff will have you complete the Official Transcript Request Form, containing your personal information and recipient address. They will assist you with processing your $6.00 payment of cash, card, check, or money order for the official transcript fee.
Registrar - You can request your official transcript from the Registrar on the Harrisburg Campus at the Ted Lick Administration Building, Room 105. Please be aware that the Registrar can ONLY process money orders or check payments.

To request your official transcript, you will need:

Your personal information (first, last name, date of birth, Social Security Number or HACCid, and contact information)
The correct recipient information for your future institution or employer
$6.00 cash, money order, check, or debit/credit card (VISA, MasterCard, and Discover)

You can view and print your unofficial transcript online through your MyHACC, under the Registration/Records tab, under Student Records, select Request a Transcript, and click the View/Print My Unofficial Transcript link.
