Agricultural Science Career & Technical Education Program

About the Agricultural Science CTE Program

The Agricultural Science Career and Technical Education (CTE) program at Spring Grove Area High School provides a pathway for students to explore the diverse fields of agriculture, mechanics, and environmental science. It blends traditional academics with technical, hands-on skills.

CTE programs are designed to prepare students for both college and careers by combining classroom learning with practical, real-life applications. In Agricultural Science, students learn about topics such as plant and animal science, environmental systems, mechanics, and agricultural business, while also developing important skills such as problem-solving, teamwork, and leadership.

Our program is built around three key components that work together to create a well-rounded experience.

Program Components

Classroom Instruction

Students take agriculture-related courses that introduce them to foundational knowledge and career pathways within the agricultural industry.

Our curriculum offers a wide range of courses that allow students to specialize in their areas of interest.

Available Courses:

  • Introduction to Agriculture, Food, and Natural Resources
  • Introduction to Small Engine Repair
  • Agricultural Business
  • Environmental Science 1
  • Environmental Science 2
  • Wildlife Studies
  • Plant Science
  • Animal Science
  • Supervised Agricultural Experience (SAE) Independent Study

Additionally, college credit can be earned through our partnership with Delaware Valley University.

Supervised Agricultural Experience (SAE)

Students have the opportunity to design and complete a personalized, hands-on project outside of the classroom. These experiences are guided by their teacher and can be tailored to individual interests, whether that’s working with animals, environmental projects, small engines, or agricultural business ideas.

National FFA Organization (FFA)

Students enrolled in agricultural courses can participate in our FFA chapter, a student organization that focuses on leadership development, career exploration, and personal growth. Learn more about our FFA program.
