Commencement Ceremony Expectations
We are extremely proud of our graduates and look forward to honoring each member of the Class of 2024 for reaching their goal of earning a high school diploma.
Expectations for the 2024 Commencement Ceremony
Graduation Contract
Please understand that participation in the graduation ceremony is a privilege. Students do have the option of receiving their earned high school diploma without participating in the ceremony. In order to be eligible to participate in the ceremony, students are required to have met the following:
- the attendance eligibility (no more than 15 full days of unexcused absence from school),
- completed all coursework,
- satisfied all obligations (textbooks, iPads, chargers, equipment, athletics, cafeteria charges, etc.), and
- print page 3 of the graduation contract and return by Friday, May 24, 2024, by 3:00 PM.
Graduate Dress Code
Graduation is a formal ceremony. All seniors are expected to adhere to our dress code.

Girls must wear slacks or a dress/skirt.

Boys must wear a dress shirt and pants.

No shorts or jeans will be permitted.

Shoes must be worn – sneakers and flip flops will not be permitted.

Appropriate attire must be worn including cap, gown, and tassel to participate in the ceremony. Alterations to stoles and gowns are prohibited.

Only school issued cords and stoles are permitted to be worn. Students wearing any unauthorized item will be asked to remove them, and if they do not, they will be excluded from the ceremony.

Graduates are permitted to decorate the tops of their graduation caps with school appropriate decorations. Administration reserves the right to disallow anything that is not considered school appropriate. Any cap deemed inappropriate will be taken and a new cap will be provided.

Attire for seniors will be evaluated by the administration and no student will be permitted to participate in the ceremony unless they have met the requirements of the dress code. Students not in compliance with the dress code will be instructed to go home to change in order to participate in the ceremony.
Search Before the Ceremony
A search of senior belongings will take place before the ceremony. Administrators will ask seniors to empty purses and pockets in an effort to protect against distracting items being brought into the stadium. Cooperation with school officials is expected to be eligible to participate in the graduation ceremony. Seniors are encouraged to bring as few personal items with them as possible.
Behavior
End of Year Behavior
Discipline assigned at the end of the school year that leads to out of school suspension or expulsion may result in exclusion from the graduation ceremony.
Behavior During the Ceremony
It is important that every student participating in the ceremony receive recognition and honor. For this reason, students, parents, and guests should refrain from posing distractions to the speakers on stage or while names are being read for diploma distribution.
- Cameras will be recording behavior.
- Disorderly conduct may result in police action.
- Destruction of school district property may lead to restitution for the damage and police contact (e.g., harm to the artificial turf because of silly string).
